WASHINGTON DC

We finally reached my sister’s place in Alexandria, Virginia on Saturday, October 5th. There's a small marina within a 5min. walk of her home, and we anchored in their water.

As Margaret had an Open House to attend to, she had thoughtfully hidden a key for Gil & I. Smart woman. It was a race for the “real” shower; and we were huggable by the time she arrived home.  Margaret treated us to a delicious dinner that evening.

We took Serenada to Washington on Sunday, and returned Tuesday. It was great having a second mate on board.

 Admiral Margaret (Day 3)

There’s so much to see in Washington, and we got it all done in the space of only two days!

Even the popcorn vendor was Closed!

Fortunately, we did come across some outdoor art pieces...

It took him all day and into the night to find us, but President Obama stopped by to personally apologize to us for the inconvenience of all the closures due to the government's shutdown.

I was speechless. We'll try again to catch all the sites on our way back north some year ;-)   I hope his government's back to work by then, so he won't have to go to all the trouble of finding us again.
