Bouldering

Gil, Gwen & Guilloume (top left)

Today was a workout! There is a tropical river which empties into Deshaies' harbour. We decided to join Gwen and Guilloume, and follow this river as it wound its' way into the mountains. We had no idea it would be such a workout. I believe its' the most strenuous hike Gil & I have ever been on. There really was no trail. We hopped UP from boulder to boulder for at least 2 hours (and not one of us got our feet wet) before we finally reached a road which led us back down to the town in less than 1/2 hr.

Later, Gwen & I snorkeled just below the northern headland of this bay. No pictures :( as the underwater camera needs servicing; but a couple of firsts for me - Gwen spotted a group of reef squid and a porcupine fish! We also saw a yellow trumpet fish, angel fish, a squirrel fish, and many others. We were hoping that we might see a sea turtle, but no :-(  We've seen them poke their heads above the water for air, and they appear larger than the hawksbills we've seen earlier. I had hoped to identify them, but that shall have to wait for another time.

Another great day in paradise.
