Still in Fort Lauderdale and likely to stay a bit yet. We have been shopping ... electronic charts for the Carribean, guide books, a weight for the anchor chain, more jerry cans (diesel), fuel filters, spare parts, replacement speakers for cockpit (the old ones have had it), some basic supplies (like TP) that are apparently more expensive in the islands .... you get the picture. The list seems to grow as quickly as we pare it down!
We met and had dinner with a couple (Stephen & Judy) whose home port is the Nyack Boat Club on the Hudson River. We remember their home club very fondly, as they had free beer on tap during happy hour on the day we happened to stop there :-). Stephen & Judy have been cruising for four years now, and it's good to chat with these more experienced sailors. We always learn something from them.
