Pure Joy - A Week With Our Family - Day 5

The Carenage in St. George's, Grenada

'Old Years Day' (our New Years Eve) was taken up with Cuddy's island tour. It was an all day tour. Almost immediately, he ascended to a crest from which both the Atlantic and Caribbean Sea could be viewed.

We drove north along the island's west shore; making several stops to view the islands' many fruits and spices, and special sights along the route....

Tours of a nutmeg processing plant, a chocolate factory, and a rum distillery were included.

Towards day's end we stopped at Grande Etang National Park to view the volcanic crater lake.

There, we were rewarded with a visit by a mona monkey. Cuddy, our guide, has learned to 'call' them, and lure them onto our heads with the aid of a few bananas!

Allendale Falls, one of Grenada's many waterfalls, was another stop en route....

It was a long full day for us and I think we all felt like napping at the end of it, but it was New Years Eve! A short walk down the hill from the cottages, was Taffy's and we had made dinner reservations there. No fish & chips, however - the fishermen took the holiday week off - so we had a rib dinner instead. Good eating.

A little pool was played, and a little dancing done after dinner. We strolled back up the hill to the cottages where we lingered until almost midnight, when we walked further up the hill to catch sight of fireworks displays from Prickly Bay and St. George's. We toasted the New Year, and headed to our beds!
