Pure Joy - A Week With Our Family - Day 1

Dec. 27th our children arrived! Pre-arrival, Gil & I were busy shopping for groceries and beer, as the stores here in Grenada had been closed for Christmas and Boxing Day. Our family were staying in two self-catering cottages, and we wanted to stock them up.

The Mango Cottage

Stephanie & Brandan and Curtis stayed in the Mango Cottage, while Amie & Dan stayed in the Garden Apartment. Both were clean and bright and welcoming.... each even had a little Christmas tree inside.

"Sugar" was most excited to see us, and visited every day!

Special News broke out early .... Brandan & Stephanie became engaged (Dec. 19th)! They have been together for 9 years, and we've long considered Brandan a part of our family. Brandan proposed to Steph in our back yard, at night, having lit up our large apple tree - an inspiring sight. I'm told Steph snatched up the bling quickly.... a solitaire with smaller diamonds set into the band.

Our first day was spent settling in and just hanging out together. The Garden Apartment had a lovely outdoor space that easily accomodated all of us.

It was a short walk down a hill to the dinghy dock and Whisper Cove Marina, where we gathered for their steak and fries special. Steph ran into a couple of free range piglets - nicknamed Wilbur and Panda

The kids were all sleep deprived, having had an overnight flight, so we tried to make it an earlier night. We essentially failed at that. Curt had brought some chinese lanterns with him, and we attempted to set one in flight. We failed at that too - too much wind caused us to douse it out.
