Martinique to Bequia

rich and poor in St. Pierre, Martinique
(notice the masts on the cruise ship)

The weather gods are to be good over the next few days, and we heed them with reverence. Our group of cruising friends shall be parting, each going their own way. As CS'ta Time did, both Serenade and Slow Waltz are destined for The Saints, Guadeloupe; Nightwatch for Roseau, Dominica; and ourselves for Grenada.

We enjoyed a 'Last Supper' (pot luck) together aboard Slow Waltz .... coconut pumpkin soup with fresh baked rolls, beef tenderloin topped with mushrooms and onions on a bed of mashed potatoes, stuffed peppers, and ceasar's salad. Fabulous dinner! Great friends! It's always a little sad to part, but we feel certain that we will reunite again, and our smiles will return.

Our dinghies tied up to Slow Waltz
Can you park 4 abreast in your driveway back home?

The following morning, even before first light, Serenada was on her way south. We had a comfortable and fast (for our baby boat) passage from Martinique to Bequia. We averaged better than 5 knots, and sailed much more than motor-sailed, in light seas, on a single tack. We watched the sunrise over Martinique, and set over the Caribbean Sea; and watched the show of shooting stars at night; finally coming in to Bequia at 1:00am to anchor. If only sailing could always be so pleasant!

I'm happy to be in Bequia. Miranda is here :-) She comes by in her boat to pick up laundry and gets it back to you same day - washed, dried & folded; for a better price than I can do it for myself in Grenada.
