Shared anniversary celebration.

Yesterday, August 6th, was our 1st (cruising) anniversary; as well as Jorge & Kim's, as we had left home together. So, we celebrated together....

Annandale Falls

We chose to hike to Annandale Falls with a packed lunch. It wasn't much of a hike! Turns out, it's about a 5 minute walk down up the road from the bus stop. Ha! Gil & I had brought our better walking shoes as well as our walking sticks, and 4 water bottles between us. Ha ha ha! 'Didn't need any of it.

As that excursion took no time at all, and we'd planned to have dinner out together; that left us with some time to eat up. So, the guys chose to hang out at GYC (Grenada Yacht Club) for an upper body workout; while Kim & I chose to hike the downtown streets for a pocketbook workout. How better to celebrate than to shop?

hiking the downtown streets - shopping can be a workout too

We caught up to the guys at GYC, and just as we were about to leave to go out for dinner; who didn't the wind blow in? Blair & Edi on S/V Kind of Magic, from our home sail club!!

HYC reunion - Jorge & Kim, Blair & Edi, myself & Gil
(we all came from Lake Simcoe to the Spice Island!)

They had just arrived in Grenada. What were the chances of us being there to welcome them, at their first dinghy stop in town? It's really incredible, I think, that we've all made it here. It just goes to show you, that if we can all do it, most anyone with the desire, could do it too.

Dinner at BB's Crabshack was excellent - the best we've had on the island to date. It just happened that they had their Wednesday night curry special on. I tried the goat (so tender), and Gil had their chicken (as did Jorge & Kim). Their side dishes were also delicious. The owner/cook came to check that all was well with our meals, and we had a chance to chat with him. He was trained in England!  Gil offered him one suggestion .... to consider putting in a dinghy dock. We had all arrived on Jorge's dinghy, and tied on to their vertical stairs; which we climbed .... at the top of which, one of the waiters had to open a gate for us to enter their establishment. An adventure in itself.

nothing like 'making an entrance'
...from the dinghy, up the ladder, and through the gate...

All in all, a good shared anniversary celebration.
