We had ONE day of good weather yesterday, before yet another
cold front came through with strong winds. All we chose to do today was move to
a more protected anchorage about 10 miles further south, as tonight’s winds are
forecast to peak at 30 knots. We’ve anchored in
Rockhouse Creek, just north of New Smyrna Beach. We have a great view of
the ocean at Ponce de Leon Inlet,
and the huge crashing waves out there. Glad we’re in the ICW J.
Despite the strong winds, it’s still the current that
dictates the ‘set’ of our boat at anchor … check out the position of the flag –
at a right angle to the boat!
Getting here we passed one of Karen & Jim’s favourite
spots – DJ’s Deck – but we didn’t stop – though as we passed it by and saw that
there were boats docked there – we thought that maybe we could have?
The Army Corps of Engineers were present on the water today. I believe they’re responsible for keeping the channels navigable.
We saw another curious craft on the water, and he saw me
with my camera, as he gave us a wave!
Tomorrow the weather is forecast to settle some .... we'll be raring to go after sitting put today.
Following your journey and enjoying every post. Take good care! Wanda
ReplyDeleteDiana, I notice you are nearing South Beach. I understand that where a lot of movie stars hang out. You should hand there a while. It could be interesting. One of my Kangen buddies & his wife took a vacation there & they loved it. Just fyi. Hope the weather breaks for you soon. We have had the same weather here.
