Norfolk, Virginia - home of the world's largest naval base

Wow! Norfolk's Naval Base is impressive. The pictures say more than words could... aircraft carriers, frigates, cruisers, destroyers, a floating hospital, and whatever else these are ?!

Norfolk is also a very large industrial / commercial port ... more pictures...

?? a fire boat??

This Coast Guard boat (followed by three more just like it) came pretty much right up beside us.... I wouldn't want to cross these guys! Fortunately, that's all they did - they didn't board us like the CBP boat in the Hudson River.

....a bad day...

Once through the Norfolk Harbour, we had several bridges to get through, including one railroad bridge which is normally open, but as our luck would have it, a very slow moving train beat us to it. We had to wait about 45min. for it to reopen :-(

We took the right fork toward the Dismal Swamp.... now we're stalking Jorge and Kim! Let's see if we catch up to them :-)
