Sunday was a cool, sunny day with very light winds – a motoring
day for Serenada, and she behaved herself! We enjoyed the scenery of the Alligator River –
Pungo River Canal more than that of the Dismal Swamp Canal. This canal was
wider, and well, ‘swampier.’ We did see many trees whose root systems had been
undermined (likely from the wakes of boaters), and had fallen into the water.
Serenada found three deadheads, but none caused any apparent damage.

Once out of the canal, we got into the 'bigger' water of the Pungo and Pamlico Rivers. This 'bigger' water also held bigger jellyfish! Ew - swimming is definitely out for me. It's too cold anyway.

The Intracoastal intersects with Jones Bay, and there we motored past a fleet of commercial fishing vessels.
I have to admit that I spent the better part of the day indoors, catching up on blogging! I wasn't at the helm as much as Gil. We anchored in Gale Creek off the Bay River for the night.
You asked what type of boat the white one with the wheelhouse aft was. It is a Chesapeake Bay buy boat, used to buy oysters from watermen out on the Bay without them having to come back to port. The buy boat would then take the oysters to market.
