Reedville's water tower sports the silhouette of a menhaden
Reedville, on Cockrell Creek is another quiet little town, with an interesting history. It is home to a fleet of menhaden fishing ships and their attendant onshore processing plant - Omega Protein. It is amongst the top four US cities for the tonnage of fish landed each year. Though not considered an edible fish, it is processed for it's oil and bone meal, and finds its way into a variety of products.

Our reason for coming here to Reedville, however, was a planned rendezvous with my sister, Margaret. Reedville is directly across the Chesapeake Bay from Tangiers and Smith Islands, and a perfect place to stage from for a sail over to either or both of them; which we hope to do with Margaret on board. Stay tuned ;)
