My captain slept despite their presence, but awoke to the
“zziiinnnngggggg……” of his trolling line!
Gil’s catch that day was sargassum. It is edible, but we took a pass on it!
We spent a little time at each of four anchorages while in Martinique:
Petite Anse D’Arlet, Anse Mitan, Fort de France and St. Pierre.

While at Fort de France, I found our family yacht … and it
came with crew! It may just possibly have the infinity pool with a swim up bar
that Gil’s been wanting too.
A highlight during this (our third) visit to Martinique was
our visit to Jardin de Balata, about a 20-30 minute bus ride north of Fort de
France, and set in the rain forest.
There is a suspended canopy trail which
offers spectacular views of both the gardens and the surrounding valley.
The capital city itself was also of interest. It's library is a steel structure, designed by the Eiffel Tower's architect, and brought over from France.
The hillsides are densely populated...
...and the streets narrow.
We witnessed a city bus trying to squeeze itself between a parked truck on its left and a parked car on its right. It was a 'no go,' until a crew of good samaritans came along (or perhaps they were passengers?) and rocked and lifted the car over just enough inches to allow the bus to pass through. That was entertaining to watch!
