We listened to the Lime Comancheros Junior Band practicing
my favourite steel pan drummer boy ....'hope you can open this!
(sorry it's sideways)
she's standing on a milk crate to reach her drums!
I love it when they love it!
A group of us went to the city museum to listen to Jazz and poetry - mostly jazz; there was only one poem read. To my surprise, Greg from Serenade, was the bass player for the evening, and I must say that he has a terrific voice!
back row: Gwen, Guilloume, Greg (from Simplicity II)
front row: me, Kim, jorge, Gil & Mary
We stood in line in the blistering heat, at the one and only ticket wicket, with many, many others....
the expression on her face says it like it was!
so many people; yet only one ticket booth?!
We were queuing to get into the Tanteen, where the junior steel band competition was being held. The event organization was rather chaotic, and unbeknownst (is that a real word?) to us, that competition was preceded by a parade of costumes. Gil quickly decided to abort, and take a stroll to GYC (Grenada Yacht Club) for 'refreshments.' Ralph didn't hesitate to join him. Mary & I stayed to watch .....
You can see that much effort went into this children's event. I thought it very impressive for an island with a population of 100,000.
Mary & I stayed to listen to 3 of the steel band competitors. We both wanted to hear the Lime Comancheros, who'd we watched practice a few days earlier. They were great.
She took a shine to Mary & I, so how could we not love her? So adorable!
