Grenada's buses
Bus #5 left the terminal with 21 people on board! I shall
have to post a pic of these buses – they’re just minivans – so you can see how
cozy they must be inside. If the passenger in the back corner needs to get out;
half the bus or better must first get out …. then pile back in again! A Grenada
experience not to be missed.
We (Jorge & Kim and Gil & I) got off at the fork in
the road for Concord Waterfalls. Almost immediately, we were offered a ride to
the waterfalls, but declined, as we understood it was just a short hike….
It was a gorgeous walk, but not short! We found ourselves ‘hiking’ on
pavement…. following the winding secondary road to the waterfalls, for an hour?
or an hour and a half? The road was lined by several homes, perched along the
edge of the river valley.
The surrounding area was lush with vegetation, which included many fruit trees.
We were surprised by the number of goats – seems almost every family has one.
Finally, we came to the falls!
notice where the laundry's hung!
(it rains a lot in the rainforest)

majestic Royal Palms
...so lush... hard to capture with the camera
I didn't see this one in Blair Witch
avocadoes (not yet in season)
I've forgotten what these are - another senior's moment

I'm going to put on weight here
I'm stuffed
Finally, we came to the falls!
They didn’t look as stunning as the pictures I’d seen in the
guidebooks. Turns out, it’s just a short hike …. to the upper falls!
Ahhh…..
Well, we’ll be coming back. Next time, we’ll accept the
offer of a ride to the (lower) falls, and hike up to the upper falls!
