Gil & I returned to Salinas, after our ‘vacation’ with friends from home, and smiled when we saw the familiar stern of CS’ta Time in the harbour. Jorge & Kim had arrived earlier in the day! We hadn’t been together with them since Georgetown in The Bahamas (Feb 22nd), almost 7 weeks ago. It was great to see them again, and I had a little happy dance on the dock.

We hadn’t been together with them since Georgetown in The Bahamas (Feb 22nd), almost 7 weeks ago. It was great to see them again, and I had a little happy dance on the dock.
But, the other thing we quickly noticed was that Serenada
was not in the same spot where we had left her. She was much closer to the dinghy dock, and had dragged
anchor! It wasn’t long before we got the scoop from fellow cruisers … Serenada
drifted back, and her stern would have made contact with the bow of the
unoccupied boat behind her, were it not for its’ mooring ball and line which
held her off. Fellow cruisers, Greg from Serenade and Mario from LeeLoo, were
able to pull Serenada forward on her anchor, to get her off and away; then let
out most of her anchor chain so she would rest well behind the unoccupied boat.
Fortunately, there appeared to be no damage to either boat, except that our
life ring was missing (likely it got bumped off).
We had happy hour (and pizza) with Jorge & Kim on our
boat, and caught up with each other’s misadventures.
