Our first blog post! We have internet access J
So, today is Wednesday, August 14th , day 9 of our adventure; shared with Jorge & Kim on CST’a Time.

First, I must say how touched Gil & I were to have had such warm send-off’s from our family, friends, and fellow club members. We have on board with us, so many reminders of your presence ….  our ‘Serenada’ hoodies, all of your cards & photos,  Reet’s  St. Christopher’s medallion (safe travels – for moi – I hope the same for Gil), Nadrine’s handheld stitcher (a garage sale treasure), Rett’s kitchen towels (I think of her much more often than Gil), his and hers journals (from our kids, and Cheryl), great music, e-books & real books, dad’s ‘Laurier’ hat, my ‘Laurier’ night shirt, the ‘Ove’ Gloves, the quick dry towels, Frank’s tomatoes (still ripening), the “not to be opened until you’re ‘at sea’ “ pkg …. it’s very crowded with you all on the boat with us J; though it’s getting a little roomier as we drink your wine!  I shed enough tears through all our farewells,  that our son quipped that we didn’t need a watermaker.

The Trent-Severn system is behind us now.  39 locks with a change in water level of 182m! By the time we got the knack of “locking through,” we had reached Lock 1 in Trenton J. We did away with our fender boards after one got caught in one of those ‘lock lines’ (the long lines along the canal walls that hold your boat) as we were exiting – ‘just a little too much drama. We didn’t think it could also happen with a fender!  - ‘just as much drama; …but we couldn’t do away with those. Fortunately, neither incident resulted in an early insurance claim.  Shit sure can happen fast though.

Jorge found his favourite hat. He had lost it two years ago on Lake Simcoe, and found it just this week - on Gil’s head! Imagine our surprise. Gil had found his favourite hat floating in the lake last season. Not only did he rescue the hat from the lake, but he also rescued it from yours truly. Jorge's old construction hat had a hole in it (which enabled Gil to grab it with the boat hook) so I regarded it as substandard to Gil's Tilley, and wanted it turfed. Gil feels he should have salvage rights on it – share your thoughts with us and we’ll take a poll.

I packed a container for 5lb of flour, only to discover I hadn’t filled it. I was making a carrot cake, and was very glad to have Kim’s help in just such an emergency. Note to self, I’ve since bought flour, but haven’t returned those 2 cups yet.

That's as good as it gets for today's blogging. We are all 4 enjoying ourselves tonight at Gord & Sue's (friends from high school) in Picton. They are sailors too, so our dinner invite included showers, laundry, & shopping with a car ... heaven on earth! I've had a little too much wine. GTG - dessert is calling.
