Bahama’s Independence Day (Jan 10th)

Friday, Jan. 10th was a Bahamian holiday – their Independence Day. Though school was out,  administrative offices closed, and Batelco closed (I was hoping to get more $30 data cards), the Laundromat and grocery store were open. Thankfully. The supply boat arrived Thursday late afternoon and was off loaded Friday morning. Groceries have to clear Customs too before they reach the shelves. By noon, the grocery store was mobbed. Below are before and after (the arrival of the supply boat) pics of the grocery store – note the stacks of empty boxes!

the supply boat arrives once weekly
(usually on Thursdays in Bimini, but this week it was Friday)

Another good weather window has opened up for us, and so we’ll leave Bimini to head for the Exumas. We hope to bypass Nassau and New Providence Island, but ultimately that will depend on our stamina as well as the weather. We’re thinking that we’ll just keep going until we get to the Exumas, but we may end up anchoring on the banks overnight south of the Northwest Channel Light.
